Update 8 September 2021

Wellbeing Week

Dear Parents / care givers

With a week and half remaining of Term 3 we are very conscious of the remarkable effort students have made to remain engaged in learning as well as undertaking assessment tasks remotely at home. Thank you to our parents and carers for all your efforts to juggle the demands of work, family and schooling, in exceptional times.  We understand that this term has been challenging for a variety of reasons and, with student wellbeing at the forefront of our decisions, next week starting 13 September will become Week 10/10.

Teaching and Learning

Students will have the opportunity to complete any unfinished work and take some time to reconnect with their teachers, friends and family. The advantage is that students can look forward to a holiday without the worry of having to do schoolwork in readiness for Term 4.

Week 10/10 will include:

  • No Zoom lessons (excludes Year 12)
  • No new work will be issued.
  • All due work needs to be submitted.
  • Each day - the students will receive the Top 10 activities via the Google Classroom as "material", rather than as an "assignment".

* Monday - Spiritual wellbeing

* Tuesday - Physical wellbeing

* Wednesday - Emotional wellbeing

* Thursday - Cognitive wellbeing

* Friday - Social wellbeing

  • Year Advisers will have year group meetings on Monday and Friday in Week 10 to focus on wellbeing and say goodbye to Term 3.

* Year 7 meet through Year 7 YA Google classroom at 9:00 am

* Year 8 meet through Year 8 YA Google classroom at 9:30 am

* Year 9 meet through Year 9 YA Google classroom at 8:45 am

* Year 10 meet through Year 10 YA Google classroom at 11:00 am

* Year 11 meet through Year 11 YA Google classroom at 12:00 noon

* Year 12 meet through Year 12 YA Google classroom at 10:00am

Wellbeing

Tomorrow, Thursday 9 September is R U OK? Day. Students are encouraged to wear yellow and to be aware of this year’s theme, ‘Are they really OK? Ask them today’. Year Advisers will be posting a video and guide from the R U OK? organisation into their respective YA google classrooms.

Congratulations

Yesterday evening Paris Alcorn, our School Captain, was announced as Zonta’s 2021 Young Women in Public Affairs Award winner. This award recognises young women ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes. It encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

Congratulations Paris, we are extremely proud of you!

SRE

Due to the lockdown restrictions for our students they may have missed the social connection that usually happens at school. For those who may be interested a number of local churches run online youth gatherings on Friday nights where youth can connect with each other in a safe and friendly environment. If you are interested in your son or daughter connecting with other youth in this way during the ongoing lockdown, please contact one of our local churches to find out more.
