High Potential students are those having potential which exceeds students of the same age in one or more domains, those being Intellectual, Creative, Socio-emotional and Physical. Students may benefit from an enriched or extended curriculum and learning opportunities beyond the typical level of students in their cohort.
The Jannali High School provides opportunities for Year 6 students to enter one of our High Potential and Gifted Education Programs for Year 7, 2026.
YEAR 7 EXTENSION CLASS
Our Year 7 Extension Class offers a challenging program for high potential and gifted students who have been identified through testing and the submission of a portfolio, as having high potential academically. At our school, we nurture curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, preparing students to excel. Once placed in this class students are challenged in their core curriculum subjects through rich learning experiences, higher order tasks and self-directed experiences.
Individual student needs are identified via a Personalised Learning Plan, developed in collaboration with parents and carers, and students will participate in extension projects throughout Years 7 & 8.
Beyond academics, we encourage students to pursue their interests and talents in performing arts and sport and to take part in school and community events. Students can also participate in a range of competitions from local to state level.
Applications for the 2026 HPGE class are now open. Applications for HPGE close on 8/04/2025
