Update 10 September 2021

Dear Parents / caregivers

We are fast approaching the end of the term and with recent announcements by the NSW Premier and NESA, we have greater clarity for our students and families about the HSC and a return to school next term. We are looking forward to students returning and a greater degree of normality for everyone. We hope that students and families have the chance to enjoy the good weather over the weekend and time to relax and reconnect.

Teaching and Learning

NSW Education and Standards Authority (NESA) released a revised HSC exam timetable today, Friday, 10 September. Written exams will start on 9 November and end on 3 December, with results released from 6:00am on 24 January 2022.

Students’ personalised Individual HSC exam timetables will be available via Students Online accounts at midday this Monday, 13 September. The HSC exam timetable is also available on the NESA website https://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/home

Comprehensive COVID-safe protocols for running the exams have been developed in line with the NSW Health advice. The protocols require presiding officers and exam supervisors to be fully vaccinated and NESA strongly encourages eligible HSC students to receive two vaccine doses before exams start.

Other protocols include:

  • Mandatory face masks for students and staff, indoors and outdoors
  • Check-in and health screening protocols for students and staff
  • Physical distancing between students and staff at all times
  • Minimising mingling of student groups
  • Well ventilated exam rooms
  • Keeping exam group sizes as small as possible
  • Desks spaced a minimum of 1.5 metres apart
  • Hygiene marshals and regular cleaning of exam rooms

Week 10/10

Year 11 students will be continuing to complete their Preliminary Course Assessment #3 Tasks next week, beginning 13 September. When Year 11 students return to learning next term, they will begin their HSC courses and will be issued with their HSC assessment guidelines.

The focus for students in Years 7-10 is to use next week to complete tasks that have already been issued with the priority of completing assessment tasks. Students are encouraged to complete any unfinished tasks before the start of the holidays so that they can enjoy their break with a “clean desk” and less worries.

Students will still be able to seek assistance from their teachers through Google Classroom, however, no new work will be posted and there will be no Zoom or Teams meetings apart from Year Adviser meetings which are outlined below:

  • Year Advisers will have year group meetings on Monday and Friday in Week 10 to focus on wellbeing and say goodbye to Term 3.
    • Year 7 meet through Year 7 YA Google Classroom at 9:00 am
    • Year 8 meet through Year 8 YA Google Classroom at 9:30 am
    • Year 9 meet through Year 9 YA Google Classroom at 8:45 am
    • Year 10 meet through Year 10 YA Google Classroom at 11:00 am
    • Year 11 meet through Year 11 YA Google Classroom at 12:00 noon
    • Year 12 meet through Year 12 YA Google Classroom at 10:00 am
  • Each day the students will receive the Top 10 wellbeing activities via the Year Advisers Google Classroom to try:
    • Monday - Spiritual wellbeing
    • Tuesday - Physical wellbeing
    • Wednesday - Emotional wellbeing
    • Thursday - Cognitive wellbeing
    • Friday - Social wellbeing
