National Science Week 2021 @ TJHS

National Science Week is Australia's major national celebration of the sciences. It provides the opportunity for community participation in high-profile science engagement activities across the nation. The school theme for National Science Week 2021 is Food: Different by Design. It honors the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.

SCINEMA is the largest science film festival in the southern hemisphere showcasing the best in science cinema from around the world. SCINEMA is a celebration of the power of the moving image to inspire the young, satisfy the curious, explain the baffling, and ask the impossible.

This year TJHS celebrated Science Week by offering students the opportunity to participate in ONE of the following activities.

1.  Watch a science film on the SCINEMA site and write a review of the film.

2.  Create your own film that explores an area of science that interests you.

3.  Explain what the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables or the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development is trying to achieve.

4.  Create a hand-drawn or electronic poster to promote National Science Week using the theme Food: Different by Design.

5.  Cook an earth-friendly recipe dairy-free and plant-based. Share the recipe and include a picture of what you made.
