Year 11 Preliminary Exams & SRC Elections

Dear Parents/Carers and Year 11

As we progress through Term 3, the school is continuing to determine the most effective method to undertake key events whilst ensuring we are supporting our students and families. Two key events this term for Year 11 are the Year 11 Preliminary Exams and the SRC Elections to determine the 2022 Prefects and Captains.

The school met with Year 11 yesterday via MS Teams to explain how each of these events will proceed based on the current health advice. The likelihood that students will be onsite during Term 3 is remote, therefore both events will be occurring online.

Year 11 Preliminary Exams

The school will be implementing the same processes and procedures for the Year 11 Preliminary Exams as we have for the Year 12 Trial Exams. The school undertook a rigorous consultation process to arrive at our final model and we believe that this will also support Year 11 to complete their third and final task. An outline is provided below:

  • Assessment Task No. 3 (formally known as the Preliminary Exams) will commence Week 9 (Monday, 6 September).
  • Students will complete all revised Assessments at ‘home’.
  • Students will complete Assessment No. 3 using their Year 11 Assessment No. 3 exam timetable.
  • Revised Assessment notifications will be issued to Year 11 during Term 3, Weeks 6 and 7 reflecting these changes.
  • All assessments will be ‘open book’.
  • All task weightings will remain the same.
  • On the day of each task, students will receive each task through their Google Classroom just prior to the start time. Students will complete each task by ‘writing’ in their exam booklet. Students will then upload their responses back through their Google Classroom (students must keep their hard copy responses).
  • Students will have 15 minutes at the conclusion of each assessment to upload their responses.
  • The school will set up a Year 11 Assessment Hotline for students to call if they have difficulties during their assessment. Students can call the school on Ph: 9521 2805 and office staff will contact the relevant staff or Head Teacher who will address the issue.
  • Students requiring special provisions will be contacted during Weeks 7 and 8 to discuss how support will be provided for these assessments.
  • The school will send out to all students an examination pack. This pack will include:
  1. Exam writing booklets for students to complete all tasks.
  2. Protocols for students that will provide instructions on how to access their exams, and upon completion, upload their responses. It will also include the rules and expectations required when competing their assessments.
  3. Reference sheets (relevant for certain subjects).
  4. Data sheets (relevant for certain subjects).
  • At the conclusion of all their assessments, students will be required to return all their written responses to the school in one bundle in the envelope provided (this will be in the student’s examination pack). Students will complete this task by dropping the pack into the Drop Box located at the front office inside the school gate.

Student Representative Council (SRC) 2022 Prefect and Captain Elections

Unfortunately, many of the processes that students undergo to determine our Year 12 SRC will have to be conducted online. The school is yet to determine how and when the 2022 Induction Ceremony will occur, however, we will be forging ahead with the elections, and as soon as possible, we will communicate this update to all families.
