As predicted, the Premier today announced that Greater Sydney would remain in lockdown at least until July 30th (end of Week 3, Term 3) and as such schools will continue with ‘learning from home’ during this period.
We will be sending out a ‘Continuation of Learning Program’ for all students (Yrs 7-12) for Weeks 2-3 that will outline the Activities and Resources required for each subject. This outline will support the work teachers are providing through their Google Classrooms. Again, if a student is having difficulty with accessing or understanding the work, we encourage them to communicate with their teacher through this platform. As already suggested, we support students following their usual timetable to complete their work.
Support
A reminder that we also have our Wellbeing Team that is here to offer support and guidance for all students. If required, they can either:
· Contact their Year Adviser through their Year Adviser Google Drive; or
· Access the Student Services Hotline – 9521 2805. The phone service will allow you to contact a Learning and Support Officer who will assist with any concerns relating to the online learning process.
Whilst we encourage all students to remain at home in line with the NSW Department of Health, our school is still open for those students whose parents/carers are essential workers and as such, appropriate supervision will be provided. Students are to report to the School Library upon arrival. A reminder that if students do come on site, that they must wear a mask.
Year 12
A reminder that Year 12 teachers may be assisting students via MS Teams or Zoom in support of their learning. These scheduled meetings will occur during their normal timetabled lessons. I would encourage Year 12 to maintain contact with their teachers through their Google Classrooms.
Subject Selections for 2022 (Years 8, 9, 10)
It is usually at this time of the year that students and parents/carers of Years 8, 9 and 10 are receiving information regarding their opportunity to make choices regarding their electives for 2022. Whilst this cannot occur on site, the school is working to deliver this information remotely.
Our Deputy Principals, Ms Waser and Ms Van Luyt, along with our Careers Adviser Ms Hayward, will be providing detailed information regarding the online process for students to make their choices early in Week 2 of this Term.
Extra- Curricular Activities
Currently, any extra-curricular activity that was scheduled for the first three (3) weeks of this term has either been postponed or cancelled. Further information will be provided as events develop.
Communication
Our usual channels of communication will continue as if we were at school. Parents can call our Administration Office on 9521 2805. Please be mindful that we will be running with a skeleton staff. Alternatively, parents can email the school at jannali-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au and the email will be directed to the most suitable person.
