The Jannali High School named Apple Distinguished School 2021-2024
Apple Distinguished School are centres of innovation, leadership and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to connect students to the world, fuel creativity, deepen collaboration, and make learning personal.
TJHS BYOiPad program has provided our school the opportunity to reimagine and redefine learning, teaching and leading in our school. This program continues to be a significant learning initiative in our school that enables every learner (staff and students) to access, engage and express their knowledge in ways we had previously not considered. The opportunity to work with staff, students and the community, with a constant focus on improving student learning outcomes, continues to be extraordinary and highly rewarding.
The selection of The Jannali High School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment. Our staff and students are working in collaboration with each other to lead and manage this program. Our Staff Tech Mentors, and accredited Apple Teachers, are delivering hands on professional learning that is transforming classrooms across the school.
A selection of inspiring student experts, or our Tekstars, from Year 8, 9 and 10 work closely with the school leadership team. These students are accredited ‘Apple Teachers’ and have created and presented professional learning experiences for our staff and more recently are providing tutorials videos for our students, staff and our families.

Transdisciplinary Learning Skills @ TJHS
The Jannali High School (TJHS) sought to strengthen students’ transferrable skills to enhance their learning in school as well as building life-long learning skills to support success in future careers. The introduction of a 1:1 device program both created further need and enabled the introduction of the 21st Century Learning Skills program for Stage 4.
TJHS developed programs for fortnightly sessions in each of three transdisciplinary areas – social skills, information literacy and pedagogical skills. The program has evolved in response to changing student needs and technologies.
The program has been successful in supporting Year 7 transition by enhancing students’ ability to learn how to learn and talk about their learning using a common language. The program has also seen student growth in all transdisciplinary areas the program targets for skills development – collaboration, communication, social skills, information literacy and ICT literacy.
Flexible Learning Spaces
TJHS continues to refine our approach to developing learner’s adept for the 21st Century and beyond.
Effective learning spaces:
- are mobile, flexible, varied, and connected
- provide students with choice in where and how they learn
- can be adapted to accommodate learning modes and technology
- provide optimum learning conditions such as temperature, light and acoustics
- support opportunities for students to learn independently and in small and large groups
- support collaborative learning and teaching for students and teachers
Our Future Focused Learning room & MacLab provide the environment necessary for explicit teaching, and staff and student collaboration.
