Subject Fees

We may ask you for financial contributions to cover the costs of materials used by your child in elective subjects that go beyond the minimum requirements of the curriculum.

Subject contributions and fees

Subject Specific Contributions are important to covering the cost of materials and resources students use in their courses every day. Referred to as consumables, these materials and resources support students to access all components of the curriculum and improve their learning outcomes.

Additional subject specific expenses apply to elective courses in Years 9 – 12. Costs associated with these courses are outlined in the subject selection information booklets that are issued to students and families at the beginning of the subject selection process each year.

Subject specific contributions and charges cover the cost of materials used by each student in the course of their various lessons (consumables). These consumables are critical to allow teachers to provide the valuable practical learning experiences for students that embed the understanding of course content at a higher level.

Students in higher years select elective courses as part of their Year 9 and 10 (RoSA), Year 11 (RoSA) or Year 12 (Higher School Certificate) studies. At the time of subject selections, parents are made aware of the costs of consumables associated with specific elective subjects. It’s expected that students who chose to undertake these subjects have already paid a percentage of the appropriate specialist charges to ensure the consumables necessary to provide for the day-to-day practical experiences can be purchased.

The P&C Contribution is a one-off contribution per family. This enables the school’s P&C group to fund a variety of whole school programs and initiatives that will enhance the learning and wellbeing of all students during their time at The Jannali High School.

Excursions / Extra Curricular Activities / Special Events

Students are invoiced for excursions, extra-curricular activities and special events. Some invoice items may indicate excursions or competitions that are planned for the future which do not necessarily require payment immediately but, if there are any amounts listed on your statement of account for past excursions, we would appreciate payment of these as soon as possible.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit card (in person), online via the school website or via the School Bytes statement link. If you have any queries regarding your account, please phone Mina Shah (School Administrative Manager) for clarification. Payments can also be made in instalments. Please contact Mrs Shah to organise this if required.

Should families be experiencing financial difficulties please contact the Principal or Deputy Principals, so that alternative confidential arrangements can be made. Financial assistance is available for students and their families where they may be unable to afford school expenses at the time of invoicing.

Mathletics

Mathletics is a web-based learning platform that integrates home and school learning via the internet. Mathletics covers the K-12 Australian Maths curriculum.

Mathletics will be used for consolidtion, homework and diagnostic purposes. Students will be able to use the Mathletics program with 24/7 access to all the resources Mathletics has to offer, so you may notice your child accessing the site at home. Teachers will be monitoring usage and results and we encourage parents to do the same. Teachers will also set 'focus activities' for some tasks. If students know that parents and teachers check their grades regularly, they are more likely to consider and value Mathletics as a learning resource.

The cost of the program is $18 per child. The same program, if purchased independently by parents is $99, so the school purchase passes a considerable saving on to families. Children will be required to pay this fee in order to access Mathletics.

We try to keep any additional costs to a minimum and may be able to assist families who are having financial difficulty paying schooling costs.

Individual arrangements can be made confidentially if you have difficulty paying these costs.

All students study a range of subjects which have practical components and product-based exercises where students take home articles made at school.  The materials used are funded through payment of subject fees.  These fees are used to purchase the materials that are used in lessons.
