Year 12 Trial Assessment Update

Dear Year 12

I hope that you have all had a chance to reset and prepare for your upcoming Assessment period which will commence at the beginning of Week 7, Monday, 23rd August.  You will, if you have not already, received revised assessment notifications in line with the revised assessment timetable.

Examination Packs

The school posted your examination packs today. Please look out for them in the mail during next week. If by Friday, 20th August you have not received your pack, please contact the school to arrange one for collection. Inside this pack will be a range of resources required for each assessment. If you run out of writing booklets, the school will have additional booklets available. You can either request the booklets to be sent through electronically or you can come to the school to collect from the front office.

Year 12 Assessment Hotline

A reminder that the school will have in place a Year 12 Assessment Hotline available for you if you have any difficulty throughout your assessments. I would advise that you initially use your Google Classroom to find a solution. If this does not work then please contact the school on Ph: 9521 2805 and our office staff will get in touch with the relevant teacher who will contact you.

Assessment Task 4 – At Home Protocols for Year 12 students

Please familiarise yourself with the procedures and expectations required before, during and after the exams. Your classroom teacher will provide you with the opportunity in Week 6 for you to know what to expect and how to access the task, sign on for roll call and upload your answers.

Good Luck

All the staff at The Jannali High School want to wish you the very best for these assessments. We know that you have prepared well and have worked diligently despite all the disruptions and changes to your year. Your resilience and positive attitude will serve you well as you tackle these assessments. Good luck Year 12, you have got this!

Kind Regards

DAVE STEWART, Relieving Principal

ASSESSMENT TASK 4 - AT HOME PROTOCOLS FOR YEAR 12 STUDENTS

As part of the mandatory requirements for undertaking Stage 6 courses and to be eligible for the HSC, you undertook the HSC “All My Own Work” program at the beginning of your senior studies. Upon completing the program you were required to demonstrate your understanding and follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding, valuing and using ethical practices and maintaining intellectual integrity in completing assessment tasks. You also know about the penalties for cheating and how to avoid malpractice.

BEFORE THE EXAM

  • Set up a quiet space where you can concentrate and work without interruptions.
  • Check your access / connectivity to Google Classroom the day before your scheduled assessment task.
  • Make sure you have all necessary equipment e.g. calculators, pens, TJHS writing books, prior to the exam starting. It is an open book task.
  • These assessments are open book, familiarise yourself with texts and notes, and make sure you can locate important information. The more you prepare for the task, the greater your knowledge base is to draw on.
  • Be familiar with your materials so you don't waste valuable assessment time searching through them.
  • Your task will be posted as “material” in “classwork”. You will also be asked to respond to the questions “Are you present?” and “Can you access the task?”
  • A separate post as an “assignment” in “classwork” is the location you will use to upload photos of your completed task.
  • These announcements will appear in the stream at 9:30am on the scheduled day of your task.
  • Plan how you will go about scanning and uploading your work as a PDF after your examination.
  • If you do not have an iPhone or iPad you can download apps such as Adobe Scan or Cam Scanner to scan and upload your work
  • If you have any technical issues call TJHS Assessment hotline 9521 2805

DURING THE EXAM

  • It is the student’s responsibility to know the allocated time of the exam and if there is additional reading time. Students will need to check their Assessment Task 4 Timetable and be online five minutes (5) minutes before the start of the exam. A roll check will be completed by the teacher at this time through the questions “Are you present?”, and “Can you access the task”? This will be posted in “material” in “classwork” of your Google Classroom. You will need to respond with a “yes”. If you cannot access the task please let your teacher know as soon as possible.
  • Students are to write their name, course and teacher’s name on their TJHS writing book.
  • Students are to use only the TJHS writing booklets to complete their assessment tasks.
  • Students will only have the specified time to complete the assessment task.
  • All submitted work must be the students’ own and not copied or plagiarised from another source
  • If you have any difficulties during your assessment call TJHS Assessment hotline 9521 2805

AFTER THE EXAM

  • Immediately at the completion of the task take a digital copy as a PDF. You will have 15 minutes at the conclusion of each assessment task to upload your responses on Google Classroom.
  • When you have completed all of your scheduled assessment tasks, you will be required to return all your written responses to the school in the envelope provided.
  • Students will complete this task by coming into the school grounds and placing the completed assessment task envelope in the Drop Box located outside the front office.
  • Students are required to indicate the date and time they deposit the envelope on the space provided on the envelope.
