Update 19/07/2021

As we continue into our second week of ‘learning from home’, I want to thank you for your continuing support and encouragement in keeping your children at home and engaging through our Google Classroom’s to complete their online learning.

On Friday, the school sent out via email to all families the Term 3, Week 2-3 “Continuation of Learning” Programs for each year group. These programs can also be accessed via the school’s website and Sentral parent portal.

As previously stated, the school does remain operational with a very small number of staff onsite to support students who do attend. However, the directive coming from the Department of Education (DoE) is to observe the stay at home orders until the 30th July. “Parents must keep children - of all ages, across primary and secondary schooling and early childcare - home if they can. Students will be supported to learn from home. Schools and early childhood education and care services, including Out Of School Hours Care services are open for any child that needs it. Thank you for your support”

Additionally, to parents of students attending school, there has been a change to the transport arrangements being offered by Transport for NSW.

‘Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Transport for NSW will be running a reduced timetable that will include changes to some school bus routes from Monday 19 July. While there has been a significant drop in students attending class in person due to learning at home in Greater Sydney, parents and carers need to consider all their travel options for students. Please plan ahead as your child’s regular school service may not be running. Transport for NSW will continue working with the Department of Education and will monitor the network as these changes roll out. Please use your private vehicle if you can and for those essential workers needing to use the network, please plan ahead as there will be changes to your usual trip.’

Year 12

At this stage, there have been no changes to the advice for Year 12 students and the HSC. If and when this occurs, we will communicate as soon as possible to Year 12 and their families.

Wellbeing

Our Wellbeing Team are constantly staying in contact with our students through their Year Adviser Google Classrooms. This week, Ms Powell (Relieving Head Teacher Wellbeing) has posted Home Learning Activities that will support your child’s Daily Organisation and Wellbeing routine. We would encourage each and every student to have a look at these useful resources. A reminder to all parents and carers, that learning from home can be stressful and that not every day will go as planned. If your child is having difficulty with the class work, they can reach out to their teachers through Google Classroom. Setting up routines promotes students to achieve their goals. Be patient and realise that working from home impacts on us all differently. Above all, stay safe and connected to your family and friends.
