Careers and Pathways

Careers and pathways team

At TJHS the Careers Adviser and the Transition Adviser support students to explore career options and prepare for life after school by providing guidance, programs, and practical assistance.

The Careers Adviser focuses on helping students understand different education, training, and job pathways, offering specialist advice and qualifications. The Transition Adviser supports students who may be at risk of disengaging from school, assisting them to connect with pathways that lead to further education, training, or employment. Advice and guidance is provided in a one-on-one or small group setting.

Annual highlights include excursions to the HSC & Careers Expo, the Sutherland Shire Year 12 Careers Information Day, UOW Discovery Day and the Year 10 Work Experience Program in May each year. Students in years 9-12 are also encouraged to participate in Work Experience throughout the year. The Careers and Pathways Team manage the popular EVET, School Based Apprenticeship & Traineeship and TAFE Youth Engagement Programs to encourage early access to Vocational Education and Training.

There are several resources available for students and parents:

By working closely as a team with teachers, parents, employers, and community groups, the careers and pathways team helps students make smooth and successful transitions from school to their next steps.
