Our expectations and procedures
The CARE Values and Expectations at The Jannali High School are:
Cooperate - work respectfully and collaboratively with others.
Achieve - take responsibility for your learning and progress.
Respect - treat everyone with kindness and consideration.
Engage - participate actively in all learning and school activities.
Our expectations and procedures help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our school’s procedures for the priority areas of learning, attendance, behaviour, uniform support our students to connect, thrive and achieve in our school.
Anti-Bullying
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has written a student friendly version of our Anti Bullying Plan:
The Jannali High School is an excellent public high school. Our teachers and students care for each other. We all work together to support the needs of all students. We want all students to know that they can tell someone if they are feeling upset, and that they are not alone.
We believe that everyone must be able to feel safe and secure at school. We aim to work together against all forms of bullying.
We define bullying as ‘continual conflict in ways which hurt another student either physically, mentally or socially.’ We understand that, despite the original intention, teasing or joking is bullying if the victim feels threatened or intimidated.
The Jannali High School understands that situations of conflict can occur and we want everyone to be aware that reports of conflict will be taken seriously and we will help support the people involved. Our teachers and students work together to prevent further cases of bullying. We also want our students to show us positive bystander behaviour, meaning: “If you see it, stop it or tell someone about what you have seen!”
We take pride in the environment we have created to actively counter bullying. We have many anti bullying programs that build resilience in our students, both in classroom teaching and whole year group excursions.
We respond to any early sign of bullying to prevent it becoming a bigger problem. The Jannali High School is very aware of the problem of bullying and acts effectively on it. Anti Harassment Orders (AHO’s), welfare support and links with other agencies have ensured that out students feel safe and secure at school. Our Deputy Principals, Mrs Waser and Mr Stewart will discuss matters with all involved and respond accordingly.
If you have any problems or concerns about bullying please talk to your Year Adviser or your Deputy Principal. If you prefer, you can even email the school on jannali-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au if you need help. We want your time at school to be positive in our caring friendly environment.
We understand we are all responsible for the wellbeing of every member of our school. Let’s work together to support everyone at our school!

BYOD Policy
The introduction of a “Bring Your Own iPad” (BYOiPad) program at The Jannali High School (TJHS) has empowered students while providing them with direct involvement in the way they use technology in their learning.
At the same time, BYOiPad enables teachers to develop their knowledge and skills, engage students through the use of different pedagogies and enhance the learning process by involving technology in the classroom.
Students in Year 7 2025 are expected to bring an iPad to school each day to support their classroom learning as a requirement of the school’s BYO program.
At TJHS, the iPad is viewed as a learning device, that enhances student engagement. There is a focus on developing inquiry-based learning, creative, collaborative and individualised learning experiences, to extend student learning experiences. The iPad provides students with an anywhere, anytime learning device, with the aim of ensuring a differentiated learning framework.
Junior School (Years 7-10)
TJHS BYO iPad Policy (PDF 130KB)
Mandatory iPad Apps for Learning (PDF 195KB)
The minimum specifications for an iPad in 2025 are:
- Apple iPad 10.2 (7th Generation or later). These iPads require a lightning connector to have optimum capacity for learning in the classroom. Students will also need a separate keyboard to participate in the typing instruction. A minimum storage of 128GB will be required.
Older versions of iPad will still work (e.g. 5th generation iPad), although they are nearing the end of their life span and a number of applications may not work. Apple’s current Operating System does run on these older devices. However, the Swift Playgrounds (coding software) and augmented reality applications to be used at school does not run on older devices.
Note: iPad minis, smartphones and other mobile phones are not considered an acceptable learning device under the BYOiPad policy.
- Students are requested not to have 3/4G enabled iPads at school. If your child does bring a 3/4G enabled iPad to school, the sim card must be removed or Mobile Data switched off whilst they are at school.
- A screen protector and an iPad case (with a built in Bluetooth keyboard) are strongly recommended.
Senior School (Years 11-12)
TJHS Senior BYO iPad/BYO MacBook Policy
TJHS BYO iPad/BYO MacBook Parent/Student Agreement
The minimum specifications for a MacBook in 2025 are MacBook Air Apple M1 256GB.
Digital device off and away policy
In accordance with the NSW Department of Education Students Use of Mobile Phones in Schools Policy, The Jannali High School will implement the TJHS Student Mobile Phone and Smart Devices Management Plan. In consultation with the school community, including staff, students and parents, the use of mobile phones and smart devices during school hours will be managed by a gate to gate approach using an "Off and Away" strategy.
Policies and reports
Annual School Report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School Excellence Plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
School Behaviour Support and Management Plan
Our school has a school behaviour support and management plan (SBSMP). The SBSMP helps us create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students. It sets clear expectations for student behaviour. This includes how we respond to bullying and cyberbullying. We work together with our school community to shape the plan and review it each year.
