Schooling costs

The Jannali High School is very appreciative of the support it receives from parents and carers. The school provides an extensive curriculum, which ensures students have the opportunity to participate in many rich experiences, both within the classroom and beyond.

Part-payments and other payment programs are available to assist with family budget needs. Individual arrangements can be made confidentially if you have difficulty paying these costs.

TJHS has an online payment system for the convenience of parents and carers. This system allows you to make payments in a secure online environment without having to attend the school or send your child to school with cash payments.

There are some costs associated with going to school that you may find it helpful to plan and budget for.

Costs to consider include:

  • uniforms

  • school books and equipment

  • excursions

  • co-curricular activities.

Voluntary school contributions

Like all NSW public schools, we can request contributions to enhance our educational and sporting programs including elective subjects. School contributions help provide additional educational resources for the benefit of students. Payment is voluntary.

For more information, visit the Voluntary School Contribution policy.

Subject contributions

Subject Specific Contributions are important to covering the cost of materials and resources students use in their courses every day. Referred to as consumables, these materials and resources support students to access all components of the curriculum and improve their learning outcomes.

Additional subject specific expenses apply to elective courses in Years 9 – 12. Costs associated with these courses are outlined in the subject selection information booklets that are issued to students and families at the beginning of the subject selection process each year.

Subject specific contributions and charges cover the cost of materials used by each student in the course of their various lessons (consumables). These consumables are critical to allow teachers to provide the valuable practical learning experiences for students that embed the understanding of course content at a higher level.

Students in higher years select elective courses as part of their Year 9 and 10 (RoSA), Year 11 (RoSA) or Year 12 (Higher School Certificate) studies. At the time of subject selections, parents are made aware of the costs of consumables associated with specific elective subjects. It’s expected that students who chose to undertake these subjects have already paid a percentage of the appropriate specialist charges to ensure the consumables necessary to provide for the day-to-day practical experiences can be purchased.

Excursions / Extra-Curricular Activities / Special Events

Students are invoiced for excursions, extra-curricular activities and special events. Some invoice items may indicate excursions or competitions that are planned for the future which do not necessarily require payment immediately but, if there are any amounts listed on your statement of account for past excursions, we would appreciate payment of these as soon as possible.

The P&C Contribution is a one-off contribution per family. This enables the school’s P&C group to fund a variety of whole school programs and initiatives that will enhance the learning and wellbeing of all students during their time at The Jannali High School.

Financial assistance

If you are unable to pay school contributions because of financial hardship, you may be eligible for assistance from the school.

Our principal will ensure no student or family suffers any discrimination or embarrassment over the inability to pay school contributions.
